The Cornell House
Clear Lake, population estimated at 1,300, is the largest city and county seat of Deuel County, South Dakota. Clear Lake was surveyed and platted in September 1884 and incorporated as a town on July 6, 1885. First named Deuel Center because of its location near the geographic center of Deuel County, the city was renamed Clear Lake after the beautiful nearby lake.
